Karibu Kwetu Solar Trading Powers New Era of Sustainable Education and Renewable Energy Across Africa
From Windhoek, Namibia
Karibu Kwetu Solar Trading LTD, a Namibia-based renewable energy and development enterprise, today announced a series of major milestones positioning it as a pioneer in African-led, sustainable infrastructure models.
Founded with a mission to redefine energy access and education opportunities in Africa, Karibu Kwetu has forged strategic partnerships with international leaders and launched groundbreaking initiatives at the intersection of renewable energy and education.
Among its key achievements:
-
Partnership with Archstorming to launch the Sirimba Global Design Competition, inviting world-class architects to design Africa’s first solar-powered educational ecosystem.
-
Recognition by Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) as an official Capacity Partner, strengthening Karibu Kwetu’s leadership role in promoting women’s participation in Southern Africa’s renewable energy sector.
-
Formal letters of support from Namibia’s former Minister of Education, backing the integration of energy and education innovation within national priorities.
Karibu Kwetu’s flagship initiative, the Sirimba Model, will pilot at the KJ Kapeua Combined School site, fully backed by the local community and supported by key government stakeholders. The model aims to fund free education through a community-owned 40MW solar plant, blending vocational training, clean energy access, and environmental stewardship.
"Our goal is simple but bold: create African-built, African-owned pathways to universal education and clean energy," said Aliela Muyembe, CEO of Karibu Kwetu Solar Trading LTD. "We are proud to work alongside visionary partners and communities who believe, like we do, that the solutions for Africa must be designed in Africa, for Africa."
The organization continues to gain momentum, with active engagements underway with SEforALL, UNESCO Namibia, and the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) to further embed the Sirimba Model into global and regional development frameworks.
