Africa's First Solar Powered AI Cluster
Current status: In Advanced Development & Pre-Implementation Phase
Project Baobab is an ambitious national initiative by Karibu Kwetu Solar Trading (KKST) to build Africa’s first solar-powered AI cluster, strategically designed to accelerate Namibia’s digital transformation while protecting national data sovereignty. Powered entirely by a 550kW solar array with advanced CMBlu flow battery storage, the cluster will host 8x AMD MI300X GPUs (totaling 1.5TB VRAM) to support mission-critical AI applications across healthcare, agriculture, energy, and mining. From enabling faster TB diagnostics and real-time drought alerts to optimizing smart grid systems and reducing mining equipment failures, Project Baobab is engineered to deliver measurable, life-saving impact.
